Ella, Sri Lanka
Ella, is a small town, 200 Km East of Colombo, in the Badulla district of the Uva province. It is situated at an elevation of 1041 metres above sea level. Pretty much like NuwaraEliya the climate is cool, surrounded by misty mountains and tea plantations. Ella is rich in its bio-diversity and dense with its flora and fauna. The Ella gap allows some spectacular views of the southern plains. Some of the hot spots much close to Ella in the Badulla -Bandarawela Road, includes the 2000 year old Dhowa temple, Ravana caves, Ravana Ella Falls connected with the Ramayana legend, the Bambaragala peak, the Ella Rock, The little Adam’s peak and the Nine Arches bridge in Demodara. Ella is also one of the most popular venues for various outdoor activities such as trekking, hiking, boating and adventure activities.
